Prerequisites:

Basic training in mathematical analysis is required. We recommend to acquire the basics for using the simplest functions of EXCEL and AUTOCAD.

Objectives

provide students with the fundamental knowledge to establish the most advanced Geomatics techniques and tools and methods best suited to the different purposes of a survey, and to critically manage the information that the survey generates .

Contents

The course consists of lectures alternated by a continuous activity of exercises that take place in the classroom, in the Laboratory of Photogrammetry and in the spaces surrounding the educational center. At the end of the course, dates are established, in which the students practice to integrate the measurements made with different tools and techniques. The data obtained, appropriately integrated and described, flow into the paper to be presented and discussed during the examination.

Teaching Methods

The course consists of lectures alternated with exercise activities in which students will be able to know and use traditional instruments (Theodolite, Total Station and Level) and innovative (Laser Scanner and GPS). In the photogrammetric field after having exposed the general principles, they will participate in the Laboratory in practical exercises of analytical stereoplotting, and then in digital photogrammetry and the use of the most advanced software.
Communications with students will take place via e-mail through the constitution of a group, the teaching material produced in itinere, and the reviews will be exchanged on a dropbox folder.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

The exam is oral, it starts with the discussion of the reports relating to the exercises carried out during the course, and then proceeds to the theory questions. The contents of the dissertation, the quality of the presentation and the discussion of the topics presented constitute an important starting point for the subsequent oral test and for the final result. The student has the right not to submit the thesis, the exam is consequently longer and more in-depth as a written test is expected on the topics covered during the course. The final evaluation, out of thirty, takes into account in equal parts the result of the oral exam and the evaluation of the dissertation carried out
