PART 1: Purpose of teaching literature – from literary theory to the teaching of literature – literary manuals and histories – authors' canon – legislative foundations of the current education system - how to plan teaching units. PART 2: Dante Alighieri in the teaching of Italian literature. Consolidation of topics selected for possible teaching units. PART 3: development of the teaching units.

Oral exam consisting of the presentation of a teaching project.
The aim is to assess the students’ skills and in particular an understanding of the issues discussed during the course; their ability to plan and organize their teaching autonomously; an appropriate knowledge of the bibliography in the course programme; a correct command of the specific language as well as of critical and methodological abilities. The grading scale ranges from 1 to 30 with honours (cum laude): 1-17 fail, 18-21 sufficient, 22-24 fair, 25-27 good, 28-29 very good, 30-30 with honours (cum laude) excellent.
