The Design course is divided into two phases.
A first phase, of theoretical acquisition, allows students to acquire the constitutive concepts of Industrial Design, also through specialized contributions, in particular, on materials and production processes for design.
A second phase, of design application of the lessons acquired, refers to a design experience in interior retail design, on a theme indicated by the teacher. This phase will address two fundamental aspects of design: a preliminary research with the definition of a Mood Board that interprets the project requirements and the development of a project concept referring to an interior retail.

The course includes a first phase of lectures to offer a global framework of the general problems of interior design and a second phase of design exercise aimed at providing students with a syntax that is independent of the placement of spaces in a given context.
The theoretical subject will be treated with the support of historical references and exemplary notions, while the design exercise will refer to specific application areas and will focus on setting up simple living spaces.
In the first part of the work, students will complete short researches regarding design solutions of spatial typologies related to the assigned theme. These researches will be aimed at building a critical-analytical framework preparatory to the application exercise. In the second part they will develop a project of which they will have to check and simulate, through drawings and physical models, the degree of formal and functional congruence with respect to the objectives pursued. The final papers must represent, in an appropriately organized way, both the material collected during the research and that produced during the exercises.
