The course provides a simple but complete overview of the main theories of the history of sociology through the study of the paradigms and concepts characterizing the thought of its most important authors. This knowledge is preparatory to specialized theoretical and applicative teachings in the field of sociology.
In particular, students are expected to be able to acquire:
1. knowledge and comprehension skills starting from the acquisition of specific cultural and methodological sensitivities of sociological theories, developing suitable skills of critical evaluation and mastery of basic knowledge related to classical and contemporary theories of sociological thought in their historical development;
2. the ability to apply knowledge and understanding. The student will have to demonstrate to have understood and to know how to move with skills between the main concepts and the topics illustrated in the course.
3. Capacity for independent judgment: a critical reflection on the topics, the authors, the texts presented.
4. Communication skills: the ability to communicate the knowledge acquired in a clear and correct manner.
5. Learning skills: critical skills, problem analysis, autonomous judgment skills.
These skills and abilities will be acquired through classroom discussions, the study of texts and presentation of in-depth studies.
In the course of teaching, the acquisition of this ability will be encouraged.
