Contents Theories and methods of Psychology of language and communication.
Extended Syllabus The course will deal with: origin and evolution of language and word; the links between thought and language; methods and models for language analysis; main theories on language development; lexicon, morphology and syntax; the processes of language comprehension and production; the spoken and written language in typical and atypical conditions; the main models of human communication; the main communication systems (verbal, para-verbal, intonational, proxemic, kinetic).
Practical Part of the course will allow to consolidate the theoretical knowledge acquired through the practice with research-specific tools in this field.

Methods of Provision
Teaching Methods The course is composed by 64 hours of teaching, divided into 2-3-hour lectures.
The lectures make use of slides and concern theoretical aspects of the discipline integrated by practical examples of the main experimental paradigms. Furthermore, the course includes practical lessons aimed at consolidating the theoretical knowledge acquired (16 hours).
Attendance is optional but highly recommended
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The exam will consist of:
1) Oral exam or, alternatively, written test with open questions. It consists in an interview on the whole program. The evaluation criteria are: focusing, mastery and exposition of the topics.
2) Critical analysis of an article through a written report (to be sent to rosalia.dimatteo@unich.it at least one week before the exam). The evaluation criteria are: completeness, ability to be concise and ability to do a critical analysis.
3) Written report on the instruments covered by the practical part. The evaluation criteria are: mastery, ability to apply and ability to interpret.
The final grade corresponds to the weighted average of the evaluation scores of both the oral exam and the written report.
