Good knowledge of Serbo-Croatian. Such knowledge is not required to students taling the exam as TAF D.
Objectives
Contents Notions of culture, history, and institutions of the Serbo-Croatian area (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia). We will particularly focus on the creation and dissolution of the first and second Yugoslavia, as well as on the relationship between these countries (one of which, Croatia joined the EU in 2013) and Italy. Based on the experiences of this area of the Balkans, the course will raise key issues in our contemporary world, such as identity/alterity; nationalism/cosmopolitanism; religion, language and borders.

Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The final oral exam will assess the student's acquisition of the basic notions and issues of the course. The student's ability to contextualize and critically discuss the materials will also be assessed. The grading scale is from 1 to 30, and the exam will be evaluated on the basis of the the correctness and completeness of the answers with respect to the indicated criteria. An excellent score ((27-30) will be given to students who show an in-depth knowledge of the course contents, are able to contextualize their knowledge and critically discuss it. A good score (22-26) will be given to students who know the course contents and are able to establsih links among them; a sufficient score (18-21) will be given to students able to present the main contents of the course. An insufficient score will be given to students who do not know the basic notions and topics of the course.
