LEARNING OUTCOMES
The course provides an introduction to English linguistics with specific focus on the frameworks of English and on the concept of language variation. The aim is to highlight the reasons why English has become a pluristandard global language

Students are expected to acquire ground skills enabling them to the study of the English language and its main linguistic features

CRITICAL SKILLS AND SELF-ASSESSMENT
Students will be able to examine a text from a phonological, morphological, syntactical, and lexical point of view. Students will also be expected to acquire basic methodological competences for linguistic analysis

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Students must be able to process and relate the course contents in English. They are also expected to acquire basic specialized vocabulary for linguistic analysis
