Objectives
Contents The subject of the Course is the study of consumer law in the Italian-European system of sources, which is also constantly evolving to respond adequately to the protection thrusts arising from the changes imposed by the digital age. Particular attention is devoted to examining the consumer relationship and the discipline placed to protect the consumer; the regulation of unfair commercial practices and misleading advertising; and the special regime of certain contracts concluded by consumers with entrepreneurs or freelancers.
It, in line with the training objectives, will be conducted paying particular attention to the application practice, following, to the analysis of the main regulatory sources, the study of the most relevant case law on the subject, national and European.
Extended Syllabus The program of the Course focuses on the different profiles of consumer law having particular regard to the following topics: the birth of consumerism and the fundamental rights of consumers in the Italian-European system of sources; the new role of the form and information obligations; unfair commercial practices and misleading advertising; consumer relationship, normative evolution of the consumer contract and the discipline of unfair terms; contracts negotiated off business premises and contracts concluded at a distance; the safety and quality of products: producer's liability; the regulation of the sale of consumer goods and the provision of digital content and services; individual and collective access to justice (the class action) and civil and administrative consumer protection.

In addition, it is recommended to study the normative, doctrinal and jurisprudential materials examined during the lessons (available on request, even for non-attending students, on the Course's cloud storage platform).
Methods of Provision
Teaching Methods Lectures will be complemented by practical exercises, which will see the direct involvement of students, in order to acquire application skills on innovative issues in interdisciplinary areas.
In particular, the examination of cases drawn from national and European jurisprudence, as well as the drafting of legal texts (e.g., negotiation texts, opinions...) will be carried out - also through the establishment of study groups - to serve as a stimulus for argumentative debates in which the student can improve oral dialectics and writing skills.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
Consistent with the learning objectives and the expected learning outcomes as well as with the teaching methods adopted, the exam consists, at the end of the lessons and seminars, in a final oral exam consisting of 3-4 questions aimed at verifying the ability of systematic framing, the property of language, the ability to link between institutions, the clarity of exposure regarding the program to be taken to the exam. The final grade goes from 1 to 30 with honours (cum laude), according to the following modalities: 1-17, insufficient; 18-21, sufficient; 22-24, fair; 25-27, good; 28-29, very good; 30-30 with honours (cum laude), excellent. Intermediate exam can also be programmed (however it is not mandatory and is reserved only for attending students).
