Objectives

The course offers knowledge of the international, european and national framework for the promotion and protection of the rights of minors.

Contents

The course is dedicated to the knowledge of the protection and protection system of
minors and the communication of all prevention activities in Italy.
Communication – that is, the process that puts the principles into operation
methods of social prevention (participation –
co-responsibility - information - training - evaluation -
connection) – is itself the object of social prevention:
a) for what, how and why it can be performed;
b) for the sources, contents, meanings, means and tools with which
crosses the human-social relationships.
In this regard, the course proposes the recognition of the principles, of the
social prevention structures and interventions (public, private,
private non-profit organization) to defend and safeguard the rights of minors.

Extended Syllabus

1. Introduction to the course: communication and social prevention.
2. The process of affirming the virtuous will of men and societies for the recognition and protection of childhood.
3. The 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Optional Protocols and the commitments undertaken by Italy.
4. The areas of interest to us in the Convention:
- the actions and new regulations according to the V-VI Report to the UN;
- the 2019 UN Concluding Observations to the V-VI Report of Italy.
5. Protection organizations and institutional sources of knowledge of the condition of childhood and adolescence in Italy (PAI, PANGI).
6. Protection organizations and institutional sources of knowledge of the relationship between media and minors (online child pornography, cyberbullying).

Teaching Methods

The course consists of 36 hours of lessons in the classroom.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

Learning will be verified through an oral exam. The score ranges from 1
to 30 with honors, according to the following: 1-17 insufficient, 18 -21
sufficent, 22-24 discrete, 25-27 good, 28-29 very good, 30-30 with
excellent praise.
The examination procedures are the same for attending and non attending students.
