Digestion and absorption of nutrients: digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids. Contribution of bile salts for digestion and absorption of lipids. Absorption of water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins. Absorption of water and minerals. Absorption of calcium and iron.
Secretory and motor functions of the digestive tract: chewing and saliva. Swallowing. Esophagus motility. Gastric motility: filling of the stomach, mixing movements and emptying of gastric contents. Gastric Secretion: functions of hydrochloric acid and pepsinogen and gastrin. Vomit. Cholecyst emptying. Intestine motility. Mechanisms of pancreatic exocrine secretion. Intestinal secretions. Defecation.

Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The exam consists of two parts: 1 - oral exam on the contents of the course; 2- public presentation of the main topics covered in the course.
The first part will take place on the date established by the didactic secretariat and consists in the verification of knowledge through an interview with the teacher. The second part will consist in the presentation presented by the student to the course colleagues and professors, with the support that it considers best for the purpose, of the aspects considered most interesting treated during the course. The presentation should have a duration of 8-10 minutes. The final mark will be in thirtieths and calculated as follows: 80% Oral exam; 20% Public presentation
