Objectives
Contents This course prepares students in the Bachelor of Scienze dell’Habitat Sostenibile by laying a solid foundation in the application of physical and chemical principles of atmospheric phenomena and climate change. Students are introduced to the fundamental concepts and applications of atmospheric science and the Earth's climate system. These topics are covered in a broad but sufficiently in-depth manner to introduce students to the methods used to describe climate phenomena.
Extended Syllabus Basic physical properties of the atmosphere
Vertical profile of the atmosphere
Black body radiation
Albedo and Greenhouse effect
Climate models
Multi-level climate model of the greenhouse effect and radiative forcing
Energy balance in Urban Canyons
