Programme
The aim of the course is to develop the communication skills needed in social and professional situations according to the standards and requirements of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The main learning objective of the course is Business English. The course will introduce students to key business concepts and the language of the business world through a process of reading activities and case studies to extend knowledge and increase vocabulary of the specific language required by the degree course.

Methods of Provision
Teaching Methods The approach in the course is communicative with an emphasis on reading and listening skills. The teaching material, which includes language practice worksheets, is used in a flexible way in order to introduce students to different areas of interest and maximise their involvement in the learning process. Students are encouraged to attend practice hours, held in the same semester, to develop a correct use of language structures.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The assessment of the English Language is evaluated with no marks but classified as “Idoneo” – 6 cfu.
At the end of the course there will be a written test and an oral exam.
1) The written test (1 hour) consists of two parts:
a- Tasks to access grammar accuracy, correct choice of business vocabulary, control of sentence structure and use of tenses.
b- A reading comprehension of an article taken from the English press, containing true/false questions, multiple-choice answers, open/closed questions.
Access to the oral exam is only possible once a student has passed the written test.
2) During the oral exam students are required to speak about business topics, newspaper articles and case studies dealt with during the course. Students will be evaluated on grammar usage, pronunciation, business vocabulary and conversational knowledge.
Contacts/More Information Extra course material such as newspaper and magazine articles about current business issues are read,analyzed and translated during the lesson.
The course consists of 48 hours for English Classes, 12 hours for Language practice.
Progress is monitored throughout the course.
