Objectives

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The course is divided into five parts. The first part intends to provide a basic knowledge of the problems investigated by developmental psychology, theoretical approaches and methodological aspects. The second part intends to provide a basic knowledge of biological processes, physical development and perceptive and motor development. The third part wants to provide a basic knowledge of cognitive and linguistic development. The fourth part involves a basic knowledge of socio-emotional development. Finally, the fifth part aims to provide a basic knowledge of the social contexts of development

LEARNING OUTCOMES
Recognize, provide and evaluate explanations for a range of psychological phenomena related to psychological development and developmental contexts
Describe and evaluate scientific investigations and propose ways to address issues in a scientific way in the field of developmental psychology
Analyze and interpret scientific data, assertions and arguments in a variety of representational formats and draw appropriate conclusions on the main themes of developmental psychology

Contents

The course presents the research field of developmental psychology, the main theoretical and methodological aspects, the dimensions of development (cognitive, social, emotional, etc.) in relation to the main stages and to the typical and atypical development, the social contexts of development (family, peers, school) and the role of culture.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

Written exam, with closed and open questions of different formats, divided into three parts: a) explaining scientific phenomena; b) evaluate and design scientific investigations, c) interpret data and tests in a scientific way. The score for each part ranges from 0 to 10.
