prerequisites, but knowledge of
modern art history, art literature
and the history of art criticism is
strongly recommended.
Objectives
Contents History of Collections and the
notion of museum (L-Art/04)
Part I. History of Collections -
Birth, development and
dispersion of private collections
up to the affirmation of the idea
of the public Cultural Heritage
and the notion of museum.
Part II. Museum Studies - Birth,
evolution, and challenges of the
contemporary museum.

Students NOT attending the
lessons will read for the exam all
the three articles listed at point
A)4.
Teaching Methods The teaching method adopted
will be the shared lecture format,
combined with field trips to
museums.
Each student will also be asked
to report on a visit conducted
independently in a museum to be
chosen from the list provided by
the lecturer at the beginning of
the course.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
Oral examination with final
grade.
The final grade will take into
account attendance and active
participation in the course, and
also the report to be made on a
visit to a museum of choice.
