Prerequisites:

No preparatory subjects are provided for. Nevertheless, in order to
perform a holistic understanding of the subject, it is suggested to acquire
before the main theoretical basis of economic geography.

Objectives

At the end of the course the student will be able to explain what the
economic value of the territory consists of, know the relationship
between external economies, infrastructures and urban income. How a
complex system works, the geo-system, knowing the main causes of the
ecological problem. The geographical space and the environment in
which we live, which takes into account the factors of a political,
strategic, social, cultural and ecological nature that underlie economic
change. Classify and analyze the relationships between industrial
activities and territory, highlight the coexistence of different business
structures; to introduce the concept of business networks and global
supply chains. Deepen the themes and the role of transport and
telecommunications in the current economic world; analyze the tourist

Teaching Methods

The student is introduced to the main topics of territorial and landscapeenvironmental
analysis and planning, through the relative fundamental
concepts and the relevant legislation. Through a logical and chronological
path, the most important planning documents at the various scales of
government of the territory are examined, highlighting the relationship in
which they perform their function of protection and discipline. Through
their critical and reasoned analysis is then conducted the deepening of
the most important and innovative issues gradually introduced in the
territorial and landscape-environmental planning.
The course is divided into didactic units that provide theoretical lessons
in the classroom, seminars and practical activities on a case study chosen
for the application activity. The theoretical lessons are to support the
carrying out of the practical activity and for this reason they will be
carried out in an integrated manner throughout the duration of the
course, foreseeing the preparation in progress of the exercise papers by
the students. The contents of these papers will be the subject of
presentations and discussions with the teachers.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

The knowledge and skills imparted by the present teaching are evaluated
through an oral interview, during which the knowledge and skills acquired
with respect to each of the theoretical and practical / applicative teaching
units are assessed. The overall evaluation is formulated by the
commission taking into account the level of knowledge and skills
acquired by the student in relation to the contents of all the teaching
units.
In particular, it takes into account the level of achievement of the
following educational objectives: - knowledge of current legislation, also
at European level, to recognize the main phases of the territorial and
landscape planning process; - knowledge of the main reading conditions
of the landscape and the territory; - knowledge of the history of urban
and extra-urban territory in the city-countryside relationship; - ability to
read an urban planning instrument with its reference legislation.
The evaluation is expressed in thirtieths. To pass the exam, the student
demonstrates to have acquired sufficient knowledge on the main
contents of all teaching units. For the achievement of praise it is
necessary to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and personal reelaboration
of the topics dealt with
