Prerequisites:

essential principles of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular and
endocrine system; basic notions of statistics and epidemiology;
fundamental notions on the concepts of disease, injury (inflammation,
degeneration, neoplasia), organ and apparatus dysfunction; basics of
clinical biochemistry and molecular biology.

Objectives

The course's aims are to provide students the basic knowledge of the main
internist diseases. At the end of the course the student will have to know
the cultural aspects concerning the epidemiology and prevention of the
most common chronic degenerative diseases with particular reference to
the lifestyle changes necessary to implement adequate prevention and
complementary treatment.

Contents

Will be analyzed main general aspects of prevention and concepts
correlated to the epidemiology, pathophysiological processes, semiotics.
Will be also analyzed the principles of non-pharmacological and
pharmacological therapy of the following internal diseases will also be
examined: ischemic heart disease, heart failure, arterial hypertension,
diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia , anemias, disvitaminosis, hepatitis and
liver cirrhosis, alterations of the hydrosaline balance.
