Objectives
Contents Theories and methods of Psychology of language and communication.
Extended Syllabus Theoretical Part: Psychology of language: origin and models. Methods and instruments for the study of language. Origin and evolution of language and links with thought and sensory-motor experience. Phonological, morphological, lexical, syntactic, and semantic-pragmatic processing. Mechanisms of language comprehension and production. Spoken and written language in typical and atypical conditions. Main features of human communication.
Application Part: strengthening of the theoretical knowledge through the practice with specific research tools of the psychology of language.

Methods of Provision
Teaching Methods The course is composed by 60 hours of teaching, divided into 2-3-hour lectures.
The lectures make use of slides and concern theoretical aspects of the discipline integrated by practical examples of the main experimental paradigms. Furthermore, the course includes practical lessons aimed at consolidating the theoretical knowledge acquired (10 hours).
Attendance is optional but highly recommended
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The exam will consist of:
1) Oral exam or, alternatively, written test with open questions. It consists in an interview on the whole program. The evaluation criteria are: focusing, mastery and exposition of the topics.
2) Report on the the practical part. The evaluation criteria are: mastery, ability to analyze, to interpret and to apply.
The final grade corresponds to the weighted average of the evaluation scores of both the oral exam and the report.
