Objectives
Contents The course will examine the role of libraries and of the librarian as an information specialist from antiquity to the contemporary world. Methodologies, techniques and digital resources related to the field of library science will be presented, with a focus on the organisation and management of libraries.

Teaching Methods Lectures with the aid of computer and multimedia/internet resources. Students will be invited to submit their original works or theoretical insights on course topics of their choice for discussion in the class. Some classes will have a hands-on approach; there will also a few library visits for a more in-depth field study of the course content; external speakers may be invited for specific classes and seminars.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
An oral exam will ascertain knowledge and understanding of the topics presented in the classes and covered by the textbooks indicated for preparation. The test is intended to verify the knowledge and critical ability to elaborate the theoretical-practical contents of the discipline. The final assessment will also take into consideration the clarity and coherence of the exposition and the level of mastery in the use of technical language.
