The student must have acquired the notions provided by the teaching of Psychometrics I.
Objectives
Contents The specific topics of the course are the following:
1) the importance of doing research in psychology;
2) types of research in psychology;
3) how to write a questionnaire.
Teaching of these topics regards the understanding of the principal concepts of the psychological research and their practical implications.
Extended Syllabus The topics that will be treated are the following:
1) Psychology as science;
2) The phases of the scientific research;
3) The different research designs in Psychology;
- non-experimental research: observation method, archive search, studying individual case reports, survey;
- experimental research: true experiments and quasi-experiments;
4) how to write a questionnaire;
5) reading a scientific article: a first approach.

Teaching Methods Classes in a lecture hall; teamwork; simulations.
The classes are organized in 16 hours of frontal
teaching, subdivided in 4
classes of 4 hours a week, based on the academic schedule.
During the classes, the professor will teach the theoretical themes followed by practical activities and discussion group, in which the student can try in practice of “doing research” in psychology.
Moreover, the course will make use of CONNECT, an online platform for individual exercising at theoretical and practical levels. The personal access code of the platform will be provided to the students together with
the text book (Elementi di Psicometria, McGraw-Hill Education).
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The E.P.G. module of Psychometrics II provides two modes of
examination: for attending students and not attending ones. The method for attending students consists of theoretical and practical tests carried out during classes. The modality for not attending students consists in an
essay question written test: the student will have to answer one of the two proposed questions.
