Project theme: Sport Academy
The course offers a complete design experience concerning a public building that is in its third year based on the new teaching structure
and its definitions of growth, in the middle of the transition between housing and urban design.
The course of architectural composition will deal with the typological, volumetric and constructive definition of the building seen in relation to the design of the open space, deepened up to the detail of the flooring, the vegetation and the design of the accessories used
(sessions, lighting, etc ...). The theme chosen for this year is the Casa dello Sport, intended as a neighborhood sports center dedicated to sports practice and culture. Particular attention is given to the polyfunctional character of the volumes as a possibility to use the structure, as well as for different sports, to host cultural, recreational and social gathering activities.
For this type of public intervention, the design of the external space plays an important role, both as regards regulatory constraints
of sports fields that dictate orientation and size, but also for the opportunity they offer to redevelop through sports areas
public open in abandonment.
The study area is located on the Via Aterno axis, in Pescara, which historically includes most of the city's industrial and commercial complexes. The project of the building foresees the comparison with an existing abandoned structure, of poor architectural quality, destined to former commercial spaces that can be completely or partially demolished. The volume also stands on the embankment of the equipped axis that acts as a barrier to the riparian area of ​​the Pescara river, thus constituting a further topic of study for a possible connection.
Attendance is mandatory and is recorded in the classroom during all laboratory days.
