Objectives
Contents The primary objective of the course is to understand the aims and areas of the restoration intervention, with specific attention to methodological issues. During the course, criteria and practices will be investigated which, with a similar but distinct role and scope, are combined in the restoration project. Finally, a brief analytical-diagnostic excursus will be drawn up on the 'matter' and operating modes of the restoration.

5. The restoration: from the project to the construction site.

1. The construction site of knowledge: the 'direct reading' of the work. A relief for the restoration?
2. The site of knowledge: chemical-physical analyzes for restoration.
3. The degradation of materials.
4. Restoration and conservation of natural and artificial stone materials.
5. The 'critical' consolidation.
6. Interventions of safety and preventive consolidation of real estate.
7. The restoration in the seismic area.
8. The restoration of wooden structures.
9. The recovery of reinforced concrete structures.
10. Dehumidification interventions.

Teaching Methods The set of traditional ex cathedra lectures on methodological issues as well as of a more general nature will be supplemented by visits to construction sites and by an exercise (workshop) that will address technical and applicative topics.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The exam will consist of verifying the project assigned at the beginning of the year (subject to periodic reviews) supplemented by an oral exam on the topics covered in class.
