Prerequisites:
Elements of the history of Italian and foreign literature
Objectives
Contents The course aims to present literature for children and adolescents as an open frontier universe of communication, consisting of multiple literary genres and subgenres, verbal and visual forms, and the intermingling of different languages and media. This discipline calls for sophisticated hermeneutic tools which draw on research into literary, poetic and artistic sources, on educational development theories and on study of the youthful imagination and everything pertaining thereto.
Moving from the historical evolution of Italian and European children’s literature, through analysis of the authors and currents that have marked the most significant turning points, special attention will be paid to the themes, forms and educational implications of writing for contemporary kids.
