The course will allow even Students who have not specific knowledge on the subject to reach the indicated educational objectives. No preliminary knowledge is required.

Objectives

The teaching of Methodology and Social Planning for Welfare follows the professional profile of the Master's Degree Course, presenting the student with a thematic articulation aimed at acquiring specific knowledge in the planning and programming of social and health and social services, analysis and qualitative and quantitative evaluation of interventions, services and social policies, such as to provide the student with in-depth disciplinary knowledge on models, theories and scientific tools of social research, evaluation research and social planning in the public-private welfare regime.
At the end of the course, the student must possess knowledge and skills relevant to the methodology of specific social research in the welfare sector, in line with the formation of a competent professional figure in the detection, direction and organization of socio-assistance policies and interventions.
Knowledge and understanding skills
- has a professional knowledge of the methodology of sociological research and in particular of research in the social service for the planning and evaluation of interventions and policies
- It has a sociological culture of planning and programming models, in relation to current legislation and methods of construction of zone plans - distinguishes the different types and criteria of construction of variables, indicators and measurement scales for the analysis and the social-health intervention in the welfare system
Autonomy of judgment
- connects theoretical and scientific problems of social research with the related needs and the methods of construction of social intervention programs
- autonomously interprets the relationship between theoretical models of planning and evaluation and characteristics and dynamics of investment and social planning
- compares the knowledge acquired with the most recent approaches, orienting and updating the overall picture on teaching issues
- carries out in an oral form the general and specific considerations on the course topics, showing that they are connected in an interdisciplinary way
Communication skills
- It uses the disciplinary language of welfare and methodology and social assessment and evaluation
- Expresses concepts on the topics of the course and carries out personal reflections in a congruous and appropriate manner with respect to what has been learned.

Contents

The course is aimed to present, from a theoretical and methodological point of view, topics of epistemological interest and application of social research in the field of local social planning, in order to provide Students with an appropriate orientation in the panorama of the new public-private welfare system and of the third sector, especially in relation to the dynamics of reconstruction of the methodological procedures of sociological research for welfare and the setting of the evaluation research system.
Furthermore, the cycle of lectures intends to present the most recent national and international trends in scientific research on local social programming, evaluation and participation in a didactical form, in an attempt to offer a reflection on the current evolution of the welfare system in an Italian and European perspective.

Extended Syllabus

The course will examine, from a theoretical and methodological point of view, topics of epistemological and applicative interest in participatory social research in the context of social planning and evaluation, in particular on the dynamics of local social planning, in order to provide students with an appropriate orientation in panorama of the new public- private welfare system and the third sector, especially in relation to the dynamics of the evaluation research:
1) Sociological and methodological aspects of research and social research techniques for Welfare
2) Social research and evaluation research: epistemological and methodological differences
3) Rules, tools and phases of social planning
4) The construction of Local Plans: actors, phases, processes, documentation and assessment tools
5) Innovative and experimental social programming: the co-planning of services and public-private partnership.

Teaching Methods

The course includes 36 hours of lessons divided into 3 weekly lessons of 2 hours. Teaching will be offered through lectures, educational seminars with the participation of experts and professionals, use of lecture notes, slides and other in-depth scientific and bibliographical material during the lessons, also on e-learning platform.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

Verification: Oral examination, carried out through questions concerning the teaching program carried out by the lecturer in the classroom and the topics of the texts foreseen therein and treated during the lessons. Evaluation: votes expressed in thirtieths.
The examination procedures are the same for attending and non- attending students.
