The course aims to provide the students of the Degree in Architecture
with the elements for the understanding of the equilibrium conditions of a
rigid body and of a system of rigid bodies, with particular reference to
beams and isostatic beam systems.
Starting from the Kinematics of the single rigid body and from the
mechanical characterization of external and internal constraining devices,
structural schemes with increasing complexity are examined, classifying
them both from a static (labile, isostatic, hyperstatic) and Kinematic point
of view.
The characteristics of the stress and the corresponding diagrams are
introduced and discussed for the isostatic single beam and isostatic beam
systems.
