Objectives
Contents The course expands students’ knowledge of specific religious literature Eras of Arabo-Islamic civilization from pre-Islamic times. Focus is on areas of prophecy and prophets. One of the first steps is to analyze the Biblical background of pre-Islamic Arabia and the coding/canonization of the Qur’anic suras, i.e. The Sacred Book for excellence.
A particular emphasis shall do to the “Qisas al-anbiyya/Stories of Prophets”, a literary genre well known from the Arabo-Islamic lands. Islamic Historiography and Hadith Collections will useful to outline the most important prophets and their figures.
The Program, References or Selected Bibliography are the same for all students. For non-attendants, it is preferable to contact the teacher for additional materials, or other.
