Contents The course will be divided into three parts.
In the first part, we will give a definition of cultural assets and cultural activities according to a purely economic approach. We will also study the economic balance and the formation of prices in the market of cultural goods and services, the behavior of firms and the demand for these goods and services.
In the second part, we will study the theoretical justifications for public intervention and the different cases of market failure. In particular, we will analyze the different methods of public intervention in favor of cultural assets and activities, as well as the role that nonprofit organizations can play in this regard.
Finally, the third part will deal with the specific art markets, cultural districts and local development. In addition, we will consider the different approaches for estimating the economic value of cultural goods and the problems related to the so-called "financing of culture".

Methods of Provision
Teaching Methods The lectures will be held by the teacher in the form of frontal classes (48 hours), divided into 2-hour lessons based on the academic calendar. Lectures are theoretical classes. Attendance is optional, recommended, and the final exam will be the same for both attending and non-attending students.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The verification of the preparation of the students will take place with an oral exam consisting of three open questions. The total points (30) will be divided based on the questions present in the test for the importance and extension and announced during the examination. The final score will be given by the sum of the partial scores. The topics examined will reflect those covered during the teaching and present in the program. The evaluation is determined by the quality of the motivations, the argumentation, the presentation of the models (where possible) and the discussion.
