The training objectives of the course are oriented towards the acquisition of concepts relating to forces, loads and static equilibrium, which are fundamental for the knowledge and understanding of the behavior of systems determined by the link between structures, shapes and materials. The students' creative abilities are supported and stimulated through the acquisition of the necessary skills for the choice of structural types in relation to the shapes to be designed in the various application sectors of the industrial product.
The specific objective is the acquisition of the abilities of experimentation and aesthetic and technical-constructive evaluation of light structures, through the construction of functional models (learning by making) of linear reticular systems, geodesic domes, corrugated and ribbed surfaces, shells , funicular systems and membrane tensile structures.
