Evolution of microorganisms and their classification.
Form, structure, reproduction and sporogenesis of the bacterial cell.
Bacterial metabolism: energy production, bacterial nutrition.
Bacterial growth: culture media.
Pathogenic action of bacteria.
Antimicrobial agents.
Fungal cell structure, metabolism, reproduction and pathogenic action.
Sterilization and disinfection.
Description and pathogenesis of major microorganisms of medical interest.
Structure and chemical composition of viruses and classification criteria.
Mode of transmission of viruses.
Viral replication and pathogenesis of viral infection.
Description and pathogenesis of major viruses of medical interest.
Nosocomial infections.
