In line with the educational objectives of the Degree Course and by the knowledge previously acquired on the most recent developments in the theoretical and practical debate on translation, the following educational objectives are defined:
TRAINING OBJECTIVES AND EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Knowledge and understanding
Competence in the use of the French language in its four skills (written and oral comprehension/expression) at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: through analysis and translation practice, the following aspects will be examined in depth: phonetic, morphological, lexical, syntactic and pragmatic aspects of high level, awareness of implicit and inferential elements, presence of idiomatic formulas, proverbs, expressions in argot or verlan, awareness of the linguistic registers of contemporary literary texts (prose) and specialised lexicons of corporate communication texts and texts of legal-economic nature.
2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
The metalinguistic competence developed in the module allows to improve the learning of language competence in a conscious way.
The student should be able to read orally and speak fluently; he/she should understand in a precise and detailed way long written texts, speeches and authentic interactions (radio, video, film), taking into account the implicit cultural aspects and the contexts in which they are inserted (functional context for literary texts; professional context for economic and legal documents); he/she should also produce texts adapted to the situations of use both in writing and in speaking (also electronic correspondence in the professional-economic-business field).
3. Autonomy of judgement
The student should be able to analyse, interpret, translate and/or summarise complex texts of various types in a personal and effective manner in a foreign language.
4. Communication skills
These are the 4 skills of level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: the student easily understands everything he/she feels and reads; he/she can summarise information from different sources, both spoken and written, restructuring the topics in a coherent and relevant presentation; he/she can express himself/herself spontaneously, fluently and precisely, identifying the most subtle nuances of meaning in complex situations.
The student must be able to express himself in a clear and structured way on a variety of topics.
Language mediation skills are developed through translation from Italian to French and verified through translation from French to Italian.
5. Learning skills
The student must have the methodological and critical tools to manage his/her learning: being able to understand academic texts and be able to account for them in a written file, thus preparing for the drafting of the thesis; being able to take notes during a listening session, being able to choose written or computerised sources and documents suitable for the purpose.
