Objectives Contents The course focuses on the presentation of Egyptian literature in dialect and includes the introduction to the main notions of Egyptian grammar.
Extended Syllabus The course is structured in two parts. The first involves the introduction to the main notions of Egyptian dialect, with the study of the main differences with Modern Standard Arabic: phonetic characteristics; syntax of the sentence and main grammatical rules. In this first part non-literary texts in Egyptian dialect with gradual and progressive difficulties will be analyzed and interviews, dialogues and songs in dialect will be listen. The second part of the course focuses on the study of literary works written in dialect.

Methods of Provision Teaching Methods The course is structured in 54 hours of frontal teaching and includes listening to interviews, dialogues and songs in dialect, with specific seminars on the topics covered during the course.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
Regarding the modalities of the exam, it consists of an oral interview, made up of two parts: the first aims at verifying the knowledge of the topics covered in class, partly exposed in Egyptian; the second one is based on reading, translation and analysis of the texts studied in the class. The total score in thirtieths will be given by the average of the marks obtained in the two respective parts.
