The teaching contributes to achievement of the learning objectives of the Degree course in Philology, linguistics and literary traditions, aiming at consolidation and broadening of the knowledge and philological methodologies acquired in the 3 year course, with view to both a future research Doctorate or possible employment with publishing houses, public and private institutes of culture and research or cultural/academic foundations.
Skills
At the end of the course students should be able to critically tackle the examination of a text in the author tradition both through comparison of various critical editions and through direct examination of printed and manuscript testimonies.
Independence of Judgement
Students should acquire sufficient skills to evaluate the textual and representation apparatus choices of previous editors, in a perspective of the creation of an autonomous critical edition of a brief text in the author tradition.
Communications Skills
Students must be able to expound philological circumstances and problems, clearly and in appropriate language, to both specialists and laymen, this with view to implementing profitable interdisciplinary synergies with scholars from other study sectors.
