The students, who did not take an exam in Contemporary History in a previous three-year course of study, are requested to contact the professor in order to modify the program.
The course aims at reconstructing the difficult path of reconstruction of the country, from the political, social and cultural points of view, in the post-war period, starting from the birth of the Republic until now.
Particularly, one of the best known and controversial cases in Italian economic and political history will be examined: the Enrico Mattei’s case.
Objectives: The course aims at deepening and expanding the Students’ knowledge about some themes regarding Italian history during the Republican age, starting from the second post-war period. Referring to the general objectives, and taking into account the objectives referred to the Course of Study, at the end of the course the students will have to reach a critical attitude which allows them to evaluate the cause-effect relationships of the historical events; they will have to analyze historical phenomena; compare historical events; carry out a scientific research; make comparisons with other disciplines on some historical aspects (like for instance Literature or Anthropology). Regarding the specific objectives of the discipline, students will have to carry out an archival research; know the historiography about specific themes; they will have to collect bibliographic material and information; to grasp connections of events; to prepare a history lesson on a set theme; to report to the working group on a specific topic; to write a text with notes; to know how to analyze a political case in a critical way. Furthermore, as concerns the topic of the course, they will deepen how policy can affect on culture.
