The course is meant to contribute to reach the goals of the C.d.S. "Filologia, Linguistica e Tradizioni letterarie". Moreover, it aims at strengthening and increasing students' previous knowledge in the field of Historical and Theoretical Linguistics.

Knowledges:
At the end of the course students will be required to show a deep knowledge of the theoretical and practical issues concerned with the spoken / written opposition through a process that, starting from divergences and convergences in a semiotic and sociolinguistic key, deals with, on the one hand, the emerging grammar of speech and, on the other hand, the history and the ethnography of writing and literacy processes .

Skills:
Students will be able to examine and discuss different types of spoken and written texts using the technical terminology and in reference to the case-studies previously dealt with during the lessons.
