“Une heure de littérature nouvelle”. Projet et réalisation.
The course focuses on the major cultural components of the early twentieth century in the avant-garde area, already present at the end of the nineteenth century. In the literary and artistic field, we will start from 1873 recalling the publications of those years by A. Rimbaud, Une Saison en Enfer, T. Corbière, Les Amours jaunes and Ch. Cros, Le Coffret de Santal, in conjunction with the birth of Impressionism (see Claude Monet," Impression, soleil levant", 1872).
The events are determined on the one hand by the poetics of these poets at the basis of Symbolism, on the other since they mark the need for overcoming, Cézanne will lead to Cubism; Rimbaud, Corbière and Cros to Surrealism. Lectures will discuss the so-called “Bertozzian funnel”, which takes into consideration the evolution of literary production by dividing the literature of the modern and contemporary period into three phases: the extension phase, the concentration phase and the infinite phase /infinitesimal.

The course contributes to the achievement of the educational objectives of the Bachelor of Modern Philology (LM-14), Philology, Literature and History of Antiquity (LM-15), aimed at developing the appropriate knowledge and methodologies for analyzing the historical avant-garde.
Learning outcomes:
At the end of the course students will have to possess critical tools to understand the literary - artistic process that led to the birth of the historical avant-gardes.
Communication skills
Students should be able to explain their ideas to specialists, with an appropriate and clear language, but also to non-specialists, in order to be able to implement profitable interdisciplinary synergies with scholars belonging to other fields of study.
Students will be able to choose whether to take the tests during the course or the final exam with a grade 18-30; both exams can be taken in Italian or French.
