Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
1. Written exam on the whole course program, assessed on a 0-30 scale.
The written exam will allow the students to assess their own understanding of the main analytical tools presented in the course. The written exam will be held in open-book mode and with a wide time availability (2 days) so as to allow students to prepare an essay under conditions that reflect the setting of a typical professional task. The standards of evaluation will not merely assess the accuracy of the provided information, but will focus upon the student's capacity to develop a critical reflection that is punctual, mature and pertinent to the requests of the exam question.
2. Experimental design on a specific topic agreed with the instructor.
This part, evaluated on a 0-30 scale, will allow to check the student's capacity to develop an experimental design that reflects the course's main topics, making use of the most appropriate documental and scientific sources, and correctly applying the methodologies of analysis presented in the course.
3. Oral exam on the course topics and on the essay.
The oral exam will allow to assess the student's capacity to present and discuss their own experimental design and their ability to make use of, and critically elaborate upon, the methodologies of analysis and the main concepts presented in the course.
The final grade will result from the simple average of the grades obtained in each of the partial exams.
