Prerequisites:
The achievement of the first year training objectives.
Objectives
Contents The course includes the consolidation of the linguistic structures introduced in the first year, the progress in the study of morphology and syntax, lexical and stylistic enrichment through the reading and analysis of text of intermediate complexity. The description of the morphosyntactic contents will be supported by translation exercises of simple sentences from the Russian language to the Italian language and vice versa. The skills of comprehension and oral and written production will also be developed through appropriate lexical enrichment and through the introduction of formulas and communication clichés necessary for intertextual cohesion.
Extended Syllabus 1. Phonetics and intonation
Practice in intonation and vocal pitch.
2. Intermediate morphosyntaxis
The morphosyntax program includes:
- Word order and punctuation;
- Nouns, adjectives and adverbs formed by prefixation / suffixation;
- Syntactic analysis of the adjective (short form, degree of comparison, relationship adjectives);
- Undefined pronouns;
- Numerals (declination and use);
- Gerund;
- Impersonal modal propositions expressing possibilities, impossibility, necessity, prohibition, risk, recommendation;
- Verbs of motion with all prefixes;
- Practice in the use of the verbal aspect (infinitive, imperative, with modals);

- Slovoobrazovanie (word formation).
3. Translation RU-IT-RU
Translation activities to and from Russian language are aimed at testing the acquisition of the morphosyntactic contents introduced.
4. Comprehension and production of written texts
Students will have to read, translate and memorize the vocabulary of varied and intermediate level texts. It is planned to assign one text per week for reading at home. In the classroom the text will be discussed through specific questions and activities designed to test its comprehension.
5. Comprehension and production of oral texts
Students will improve the comprehension of the oral text through dictation and listening exercises.
6. Word formation (slovoobrazovanie) and lexical enrichment.
A part of the hours of frontal teaching will be used in the study of the methods of words formation in Russian (prefixation, suffixation, combination of roots, etc.), as a useful tool for the autonomous understanding of unfamiliar words.

Teaching Methods The course includes 300 hours, divided as follows: 72 hours of lectures with the teacher + 228 hours of self-learning and homeworks + practice with the CEL.
6 cfu will be teached by Natalia Guseva and 6 by Maria Chiara Ferro.
The teaching method combines communicative approach, group work, description of grammar after the students' autonomous preparation on new contents, fixation, consolidation and translation activities.
During the year will be used multimedia (computer screenings, films, audio recordings) and authentic materials (magazines and publications in language).
The course consists of the following parts, which will focus on the entire academic year: Phonetics and intonation; Intermediate level vocabulary and morphosyntax; Comprehension and production of written texts; Comprehension and production of oral texts; Word formation (slovoobrazovanie) and lexical enrichment.
The lessons of the first semester will be given by Prof. N. Guseva, those of the second by Prof. M.C. Ferro.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The usual methods of verification are:
For attending students there are 3 (2 for the L11) tests during the year, each consisting of:
- dictation
- grammar test including RU-IT and IT-RU translation of simple and complex sentences without a dictionary
- reading and comprehension of the written text with the possibility of using the bilingual dictionary.
The passing of the 3 tests allows the direct admission to the oral exam. There are no forms of recovery of failed tests.
The oral exam consists of:
- reading, morphosyntactic analysis and sight translation of a brief text in Russian;
- explanation in Italian of a topic of morphosyntax (also for students of Russian mother tongue);
- conversation on the topics related to the readings taken from MIR TESEN. Fondamenti di cultura, storia e letteratura russa (Livelli A1-B1+ del QCER), a cura di D. Bonciani e R. Romagnoli, Hoepli, Milano 20232, ISBN 978-88-360-1298-5, second section.
Before the oral exam, it is necessary to get the CEL's test.
For those students who have not passed the tests during the year, for not attending students and for the FC there will be a final written exam and an oral one of the same type.
The written exam is valid for three sessions. The student can choose to take the oral exam in the same session of the written exam or in one of the following two.
Assessment
The written and oral exam is evaluated in thirtieths, making the average of the marks obtained in the two parts.
Contacts/More Information The linguistic practice carried out by the CEL are an integral part of the course.
Attendance of lessons is strongly recommended.
Russian speaking students and working students are required to make contact with the teachers at the beginning of the course. Students OUT OF COURSE must refer to this program.
Tutoring hours: once a week during the entire teaching period.
L11
The students of Russian Language II (L11), borrowing the course from L12, have to assimilate the contents of the program carried out in the first 48 hours of frontal lessons + 152 of self-learning, corresponding to 8 CFU. The L11 program does not include prepositional structures and slovobrazovanie (see below).
