In the methodological panorama of qualitative analysis, the course is aimed at the study of Visual Sociology's method. In detail, the visual method is composed by two analytical segments aimed at: 1) the use of visual data as a tool to understand a social dimension; 2) detecting the role of images in specific social contexts in terms of use and practices in daily life.
The course will address the following topics:
1) The subjective understanding of social reality.
2) The relationship between visual image and social image.
3) Visual Sociology: evolution and techniques of analysis.
4) Visual Sociology in research design.
5) The techniques of image acquisition and analysis.
6) Interpretation of the results of a visual analysis.
