The program aims to present to the student the main periods of the literary history of Portugal, from its origins to the nineteenth century; thus presenting a complete overview from the first literary manifestations to the main authors of Portuguese Romanticism. The literary contents of the course are presented to the student hand in hand with the history of Portugal, thus providing the students with a knowledge of Portuguese society in its main historical and cultural aspects. The course aims to provide students with the terminological and technical tools to understand the main Portuguese artistic and literary productions, with reference to genres. The teaching contributes to the achievement of the educational objective by providing students with the linguistic and cultural interpretation keys for the development of linguistic competence in L2, in order to continue linguistic studies and create a professional profile specialized in Portuguese language.
