Objectives
Contents Phonetic and phonological aspects of European Portuguese (PE) and Brazilian Portuguese (PB), in a contrastive and theoretically supported manner;
Syntactic aspects of the EP and the PB;
Pragmatic aspects of the EP and the DB;
Main socio-linguistic aspects of the EP and the PB;
Extended Syllabus during the lessons the students will be offered topics of Portuguese linguistics and the tools for linguistic analysis:
Phonetic and phonological aspects of European Portuguese (PE) and Brazilian Portuguese (PB), in a contrastive and theoretically supported manner;
Syntactic aspects of the EP and the PB;
Pragmatic aspects of the EP and the DB;
Main socio-linguistic aspects of the EP and the PB;
the various aspects will be analyzed in step with the analysis of textual genres in Portuguese and according to different theoretical approaches.

Teaching Methods The course will be divided between lectures and language labs. The frontal teaching consists mainly of theoretical lessons regarding the course with the teacher of reference and linguistic exercises with regard to the lecturer. During the course of the course, students will be offered some learning checks to be held in the classroom and in a collective way that propose questions aimed at verifying the comprehension of the topics covered.
The course will use, when necessary and when possible, multimedia material for cultural study.
Attendance is optional but highly recommended.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The course includes a written and an oral exam through which the student can present his / her linguistic knowledge in the two main modalities. During the written test, lasting two hours, the student will demonstrate his skills in exposing and learning the Portuguese language through the elaboration of a short expositive text and the translation of a text from Portuguese into Italian. For the oral examination, the student must present, on a date prior to the examination and agreed with the teacher, a paper on one of the topics covered during the course.
