In accordance with the general educational objectives of Corso di Studi in Lingue e Letterature Straniere relating to the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and expertise related to the language and its teaching/learning, the course aims at analyzing the main CALL-tools, as well as MT (machine translation) and CAT (computer assisted translation) tools.

LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course students will be able to deal with the main CALL-tools and some of the ICTs available to the translator.
-KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: the knowledge of the main CALL-tools, with reference to the specific role of the teacher and the main language teaching methodologies; CAT-tools, in particular the new free online translation environment-tools.
-ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: designing and developing web-based language teaching activities tailored specifically to the learners' needs; get familiar with free online translation environment tools.
- MAKING JUDGMENTS: selection of the most appropriate CALL-tool to the specific learning objectives; critical
awareness about the limitations of free online MT.
- COMMUNICATION SKILLS: students must be able to describe the main CALL- and CAT-tools.
