Objectives
Contents The course will deepen the study of the Por-tuguese language starting from the opposite concepts of unity and variety, analyzing the peculiarities and differences of the different registers. In particular, the diatopic variation of the language will be studied in depth, a no-tion that can be applied to different text types. Certain translation problems arising from a contrastive analysis between Portuguese and Italian will also be addressed.
Extended Syllabus During the lectures, will be offered the study of the Portuguese language starting from the opposite concepts of unity and varie-ty, analyzing the peculiarities and differences of the different registers. In particular, the di-atopic variation of the language will be stud-ied in depth, a notion that can be applied to different text types. Certain translation prob-lems arising from a contrastive analysis be-tween Portuguese and Italian will also be ad-dressed.
the various aspects will be analysed in parallel with the analysis of textual genres in Portuguese and according to different theoretical approaches.

Teaching Methods Lectures, multimedia laboratory, co-operative learning, round tables and seminars. The writ-ten and oral linguistic exercises will be carried out during the reading, with ample computer and telematic support, the theoretical part, the films, the conferences and the seminars will be carried out during the course by the teach-er.
Attendance is optional but highly recommended.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The course includes a written and an oral exam through which the student will be able to present his / her linguistic knowledge.
