Objectives
Contents The course includes an overview of commitment literature (adab al-iltizàm) from the mid-twentieth century up to the present day.
Extended Syllabus The course provides a general overview of Arabic literature from the mid-twentieth century to the present day. Particular attention will be given to adab al-iltizàm (commitment literature) which involved all Arab countries, due to the difficult historical-political conditions of this geographical area. Several writers will be studied, some of them emerging, others already well known, which represent the writing of resistance and rebellion against all oppressive policies, both foreign and local. The course includes the historical-political framework of the Arab countries, in addition to reading, analysis and translation of extracts from literary works covered during the lectures.

Teaching Methods The course is based on 36 hours of frontal teaching and it includes the attendance of specific seminars on the topics studied during the course.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The final exam is an oral interview, which aims to verify the knowledge of the topics covered during the lectures. The score is out of thirty.
