It is desirable, although not mandatory, to already have basic knowledge of the Portuguese language and the possession of general categories of historical and geographical orientation, as well as basic information on the great periods of the contemporary world.
Objectives
Contents The program aims to introduce the student to the main contemporary authors of the Lusophone literature. Starting from the end of the nineteenth century, Tto the present day, through the presentation of the latest literary productions. It is a path that crosses the political and cultural history of Portugal throughout the nineteenth century and reaches the present day. The literary contents of the course are presented to the student hand in hand with the history of Portugal and with the history of its film production, thus allowing the student, a knowledge of Portuguese society in its main historical and cultural aspects. The course provides students with the terminological and technical tools to understand the main Portuguese artistic and literary productions, divided into genres. The teaching contributes to the realization of the educational objective of the course of studies by providing students with the linguistic and cultural keys to the development of linguistic competence in the L2, both a continuation of linguistic studies and for the creation of a specific professional profile specialised in Portuguese language.

Teaching Methods The course will be divided into lectures and language labs. During the course, students will be offered some learning checks aimed at verifying the understanding of the topics covered.
Attendance is optional but highly recommended.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
For the assessment, the student must demonstrate a knowledge of the various topics covered during the course through an oral interview.
